MANKWE FET COLLEGE- HOSPITALITY TRAINING SCHOOL
The building functions as a training hospitality centre. The facility is rented as a conference centre; where the students learn to cater for events up to 150 people.
Each side of the building responds to its context resulting in all facades appearing different. The west facade is like an agricultural shed, the east is a 'stoep' on the ground and a nature hide at the top over looking the Pilanesburg Nature reserve. The northern edge forms a sports pavilion, where the change rooms and bench serve the existing sports field.
The project was built with a similar budget to a low cost house at R3750 per msq. The building naturally ventilates through staggered poly-carbonate wall and brei-soleil. The poly-carbonate utilises natural light and saves on electricity.
